The Macaw Cichlid (Aequidens pulcher), also known as the Blue Acara, is a stunning fish with iridescent blue and green scales and a peaceful temperament. Native to the slow-moving rivers of South America, it grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) and thrives in well-planted aquariums. Ideal conditions include:
- Temperature: 22° - 28° C (72° - 82° F)
- pH: 6.5 - 7.5
- KH: 3 - 12 dKH
- Minimum tank size: 40 gallons
Macaw Cichlids are peaceful, hardy, and bring vibrant colour to community tanks, especially when kept in spacious, well-maintained environments.
