Hockey Stick Tetra
The Hockeystick Tetra (Thayeria boehlkei), also known as the Penguin Tetra or Blackline Penguinfish, is recognized by the distinctive black stripe along its body. Native to the Amazon and Araguaia river basins in South America, it grows up to 3 inches (7.6 cm). Related species, Thayeria obliqua and Thayeria ifati, share similar markings and are also called "penguin fish." Ideal conditions include:
- Temperature: 72° - 82° F (22° - 28° C)
- pH: 5.0 - 7.5
- KH: 1 - 12 dKH
- Minimum tank size: 20 gallons
