The Congo Tetra (Phenacogrammus interruptus) is a vibrant fish known for its shimmering rainbow colors and long, flowing fins. Native to the Congo River basin in Africa, it grows up to 3.5 inches (9 cm) and thrives in spacious, planted community tanks. Ideal conditions include:
- Temperature: 73° - 82° F (23° - 28° C)
- pH: 6.0 - 7.5
- KH: 3 - 12 dKH
- Minimum tank size: 30 gallons
Congo Tetras are peaceful and make a beautiful addition to larger aquariums, especially when kept in groups.
