Broita Snail
The Brotia Snail (Brotia pagodula), also known as the Pagoda Snail, is a fascinating freshwater snail known for its unique, spiked, pagoda-shaped shell. Native to fast-flowing rivers in Southeast Asia, this snail can grow up to 2 inches (5 cm) and thrives in well-oxygenated aquariums with rocky or sandy substrates. Ideal conditions include:
- Temperature: 22° - 26° C (72° - 79° F)
- pH: 7.0 - 8.0
- KH: 5 - 15 dKH
- Minimum tank size: 20 gallons
Brotia Snails are peaceful and slow-moving, making them excellent tank cleaners as they feed on algae and detritus. Due to their need for well-oxygenated water, they do best in tanks with strong water flow. Their ornate, spiked shells make them a visually interesting and functional addition to any aquarium.
